Whitegate is the sort of place where the detached houses sit behind long gravel drives and the school run happens more on foot than in a scramble for the bus. Fifty people call this stretch home, spread thinly across the ground at a density you'd more readily associate with a hamlet than a village, and the average age hovering above fifty tells you this isn't a place in a hurry.

Money isn't the issue here — Whitegate sits at the very top of the national income scale and among the least deprived places in the country, and that shows in the property board on the verge as much as anywhere. For getting further afield, Hartford Rail Station is the local option, useful if your commute runs toward Chester or Manchester rather than needing a metro on your doorstep.

Green space is modest in scale — a couple of pockets totalling just over a hectare — so this isn't a village built around a sprawling park; the appeal is more the surrounding countryside than any single named green. With only two crimes recorded in the past year, the safety picture is about as quiet as the population figures suggest, though it's worth knowing that the small number of incidents that do occur skew heavily toward violence and sexual offences as a share of the total — a pattern common in tiny samples where one or two cases move the percentages a long way. Broadband is solidly modern, with full fibre reaching most premises, so working from one of those large houses isn't a technical compromise.
