Rows of semi-detached houses dominate here, red-brick and privately owned, the kind of streets where a For Sale board tends to stay up for a matter of weeks rather than months. It reads as settled rather than transitional — this is a place people move to and then stay, not a stopover.

The numbers back up that impression. The typical resident is in their fifties, a good decade older than the national median, and this sits among the least deprived places in the country on both income and general deprivation measures. Housing is where it gets interesting: a semi-detached home here carries a median price meaningfully below both the Cheshire East average and the typical national semi, which is part of why the area scores so strongly on affordability despite its comfortable income profile. Almost every sale is freehold, and new-build is essentially absent — this is established housing stock, not a place building itself anew.

On safety, the area holds a strong grade and the trend is flat rather than worsening, though it's worth naming the one place the picture gets messier: violence and sexual offences account for half of all recorded incidents, a higher concentration than the milder anti-social behaviour and public order categories that make up most of the rest. It's the single grade that breaks the otherwise consistent B+/A pattern across health, connectivity, transport and housing, and worth sitting with rather than skating past. Broadband is solid, with full-fibre reaching the large majority of properties, and the general health grade sits comfortably above average too.
