Threemilestone

Threemilestone reads like a lot of outer Truro: roundabouts and retail sheds giving way quickly to estate roads of semis and detached houses, the kind of place you drive through on the way to somewhere else and don't clock is a village in its own right. There's no dense high street to speak of — this is a residential edge suburb, and it looks like one, with the traffic and low-slung commercial units of a bypass village rather than a postcard centre.

The numbers back up that instinct that this is a comfortable, unremarkable place to park a family. Median age sits at 46, older than both the regional and national norms, and the housing stock leans heavily towards semi-detached freeholds — thirty-five recent sales, most of them semis and detached houses, almost all owned outright rather than leasehold. A For Sale board here is overwhelmingly likely to say "three-bed semi, own it outright," not "flat, share of freehold." Prices sit close to the Cornwall average, a shade above the unitary authority's median, which puts Threemilestone as solidly middling-to-comfortable rather than either bargain or stretch. For schools, Richard Lander School covers secondary-age children locally, and Threemilestone School itself handles primary intake for ththe immediate area — Chacewater Community Primary is another option close by, though neither publishes an Ofsted rating in this data, so you're going on reputation and word of mouth rather than a grade.

The safety picture is the one figure worth sitting with. Overall the area scores well across health, transport, and nightlife access, and it sits comfortably on the affordability and housing measures too. But the crime rate here runs more than double the Cornwall-wide average, driven overwhelmingly by violence and sexual offences, which account for over half of all recorded incidents. That's the odd note in an otherwise settled, ageing, homeowner profile — worth asking around about before you commit, rather than assuming the pleasant streetscape tells the whole story. Green space is thin on the ground in absolute terms too, a handful of small plots rather than any big park to anchor a weekend, so outdoor life here tends to mean the wider Cornish countryside rather than a named local green.
