Stoke Bliss

Stoke Bliss is the kind of place where the postbox and the phone box probably get more architectural attention than anything else on the lane — a scatter of detached houses, farmland between them, and not much in the way of a high street at all. It attracts people who've already decided they don't want a high street: the median age here sits at 55.8, well above the national 40.4, and this is a village of 274 people spread thinly across the land, not a place you stumble into by accident.

There's no rail station in the picture and no primary school named for the village itself, so the practical rhythm of life here is built around the car and the wider district. The nearest schooling that shows up is Tenbury High Ormiston Academy, rated Good, though its progress score (-0.36) suggests pupils there make somewhat less academic progress than the national average — worth a conversation with the school rather than a red flag on its own. Housing is dominated by detached freehold homes, eleven of the twelve recent sales were freehold and seven of those detached, which is exactly what you'd expect a "For Sale" board here to mean: a proper house with land around it, not a starter flat. That comes at a price — the median sits at £372,250, about 16% above the wider Malvern Hills district and well clear of the national median of £281,000, so this is a place people move to once they can afford the space, not a first rung on the ladder.
