Shrubbery Walk

Blocks of flats dominate here, the kind with buzzer entry and a shared bin store round the back, and the streets around them feel more like a small town centre spillover than a residential enclave proper — dense, a bit worn at the edges, built for turnover rather than roots.

That density shows up everywhere else too. Flats make up the overwhelming majority of sales, nearly all of them leasehold, and a For Sale board on this street is almost certainly advertising a one- or two-bed flat rather than a family house — freeholds are the exception here, not the rule. Prices reflect that: the median sale sits well below both the North Somerset and national figures, among the lower end of the price spectrum regionally, which is part of why the flow of buyers and renters through here keeps turning over faster than the national average. The median age of 49 is a little misleading against that backdrop — this reads less like a retirement pocket and more like a place where longer-term owners have stayed put while a rotating cast of renters moves through the flats around them.

The picture on safety is the one thing that cuts against the otherwise unremarkable, workaday tone. Crime sits sharply above the wider North Somerset rate, dominated by violence and sexual offences and anti-social behaviour between them, and the local trend on safety is described as worsening rather than settling. It's the kind of area where the numbers deserve a straight look rather than a footnote, particularly if a quiet street matters to you as much as the flat itself. Connectivity, by contrast, is a genuine strength — full fibre reaches a large majority of properties, which matters more than it used to for anyone working from one of those flats rather than commuting out of them.
