Green space is generous for a place this dense — sixteen sites and over seventy hectares, well above what you'd expect given the population squeezed into each square kilometre. That density is the trade-off worth sitting with: safety and environment both grade solidly here, but the crime rate itself runs considerably higher than the Richmond average, driven mainly by violence and anti-social behaviour rather than burglary or robbery, which sit further down the list. It's a pattern more typical of built-up London suburbs than of leafier Richmond postcodes, and the borough's overall low crime rate makes New Hanworth look worse by comparison than it might if judged against London as a whole. Council tax and connectivity are unremarkable in a reassuring way — full fibre reaches two-thirds of the area, band D tax sits close to the national median — and health provision is graded strongly.

Affordability is the sticking point, and it's graded that way for a reason: houses here cost far more than a typical income in the surrounding income band would comfortably stretch to, even with prices running below the borough's own median. That tension — solid schools and green space and transport links, set against a lower income decile than the price tag implies — is the real character of the place. It suits people who've already built some equity or income elsewhere and want to spend it on space and stability rather than nightlife or newness; the nightlife grade is middling, and there's nothing here masquerading as a scene. If your priorities are a house with a garden, a decent primary school run, and a station platform, it earns its keep. If you're stretching to get onto that ladder in the first place, the numbers will make themselves felt long before the neighbours do.
