New Ferry Park

Terraced and semi-detached streets dominate here, tightly packed by Wirral standards, with the kind of density you'd more readily associate with inner Liverpool than a peninsula suburb. It's a working, unglamorous streetscape rather than a picture-postcard one, and that's worth saying plainly before anything else.

The housing market tells its own story before you even look at crime or schools. A median sale price around £157,500 sits well under both the North West average and the national figure, and freehold semis change hands here for a fraction of what the same property type fetches elsewhere in England — this is one of the more affordable corners of the country, sitting low on both the income and deprivation deciles. That combination of cheap freehold stock and a young-ish median age of 37 tends to attract first-time buyers and people priced out of pricier parts of Wirral, rather than downsizers or second-steppers. Grove Street Primary, rated Good, is the local anchor for families, though the broader schools grade of B suggests it isn't surrounded by a deep bench of similarly strong options.

Look past the affordability, though, and the safety picture is the thing that needs sitting with. Violence and sexual offences account for very close to half of all recorded crime here, nearly five times the next largest category, criminal damage and arson. That's a lopsided crime mix, not a broad spread of low-level nuisance, and it's the kind of pattern that shows up as a quiet outlier against an otherwise unremarkable set of grades — connectivity, affordability, and environment all sit at or above the B+ mark, which makes the safety figure the one line worth reading twice rather than skimming past. Full fibre broadband reaches over 90% of properties, and the environment grade of A suggests decent green space provision for a place this dense, but neither offsets the crime concentration; they simply sit alongside it as separate facts about the same postcode.
