Summary of Middleforth Green
Middleforth Green reads as solid, detached-house suburbia — the kind of place where driveways have two cars and the streets are quiet enough that you notice a removal van. It sits within Penwortham, on the Preston side of South Ribble, and the housing stock tells you who's here: mostly detached and semi-detached homes, overwhelmingly owned outright rather than rented, with a median age north of 47 — a decade or so older than the national average. This is not a young professionals' postcode. It's settled, and it looks it.
That settled quality shows up in the money too. A typical sale here lands around £218,000, which is below the national median but a touch above what you'd pay elsewhere in South Ribble — this small pocket runs about 5% pricier than the district as a whole. Detached homes trade around £327,000, semis nearer £214,000, both comfortably under their national equivalents, so you're getting more house for the pound than the England-wide figures suggest, even if it's not the district's cheapest corner. On schooling, the picture is mixed rather than uniformly reassuring: Penwortham Middleforth Church of England Primary serves the immediate area, while St Mary Magdalen's Catholic Primary carries an Ofsted rating of Requires Improvement — worth a closer look if schooling is your priority, since it doesn't match the otherwise comfortable tone of the area.
Green space is present but not generous — three plots totalling just under 14 hectares, roughly in line with the national rate per head but below the regional norm, so it won't feel especially open underfoot. The area's real strength is safety: a grade of A, with total recorded crime low against national patterns, even though violence and sexual offences make up the largest single share of what does occur, as they do almost everywhere. Health provision scores more modestly at C+, and nightlife barely registers — this isn't a place for evening options on your doorstep, more one where you'd drive or take a short trip for a proper night out. Connectivity is decent, with full fibre reaching most premises, useful for anyone working from home.
