Lower Moor

Lower Moor is the kind of place where the houses do the talking and there isn't much else competing for your attention. Detached homes on generous plots, a handful of semis, hardly any traffic — this is a village in the proper sense, with a population you could fit into a couple of streetfuls elsewhere, and a median age north of fifty that tells you most people here aren't rushing anywhere. It attracts people who've already done the commuting-and-climbing phase of life, or who never wanted it.

The property picture backs this up cleanly: what sales there are split between detached and semi-detached houses, every single one freehold, with a median price around £405,000 — comfortably above both the Wychavon district figure and the national average. A board outside a house here says "settled money, long ownership, no chain of first-time buyers." That premium over the parent district (a good 20-odd percent up) puts Lower Moor among the pricier corners of an already comfortable part of Worcestershire, though it's still short of the very top national percentiles. Connectivity is the trade-off: the transport grade is strong on paper, but this reads as a driving village rather than a rail one, and broadband, while decent with full-fibre reaching most premises, isn't going to dazzle anyone doing heavy video-conferencing.

Safety is where Lower Moor quietly earns its keep — the grade sits at the top of the scale, and with a total of three crimes logged in the past year, vehicle crime being the most common thread, the picture is about as untroubled as these things get, and it's held flat rather than drifting either way. That's the out-of-pattern good news against a schools grade and connectivity grade that are merely solid rather than exceptional. Green space is limited in raw terms — a couple of pockets amounting to under three hectares — so this isn't a village built around a sprawling park; the appeal is the surrounding countryside itself rather than anything named and gated. Day-to-day life here means driving to get your groceries, your pub dinner, your GP appointment, and treating that as the price of the quiet.
