Little Coxwell

Detached houses behind long drives, a scatter of farm buildings, and barely a soul on the lane at any hour — Little Coxwell reads as the kind of place you drive through slowly, not the kind with a high street to browse. With a population under two hundred and density nowhere near the regional norm, this is open, low-built countryside on the edge of Faringdon, not a commuter estate pretending to be a village.

Money here sits comfortably: an income decile of 7 and an income-deprivation decile of 9 put it among the better-off, less-deprived corners of the South East, and that shows in the property. Sales skew heavily detached and freehold — nine of the fourteen recent sales were detached homes, nearly all freehold — which is the classic signature of a village where people buy once and stay. The median sale price of £371,500 actually undercuts the wider Vale of White Horse slightly, though detached homes locally have been fetching around £510,000 against a national figure closer to £420,000, so the premium is specific to the bigger houses rather than the market as a whole. For schooling, Faringdon Community College — a Good-rated academy with over 1,400 pupils — is the named option on the doorstep; there's no rail station in the picture here, so this is a driving village, not a platform-and-season-ticket one.

Safety is the standout grade, and it's not a small thing given the size of the place: an A for safety against a B+ overall, with the trend reading flat rather than improving or worsening — this is a place that has simply always been quiet. Eleven recorded crimes in twelve months is a small enough number that any single category swings the percentages around, and violence and sexual offences make up the majority share, but the raw scale means this reads as an anomaly-prone dataset rather than a hotspot. Green space is modest in absolute terms — three plots covering a little over two hectares — so this isn't a village built around a big park; the appeal is the surrounding farmland and lanes rather than a managed green. Broadband is solid enough for remote work, with two-thirds of premises on full fibre, which matters more here than café count, because there isn't a restaurant scene to speak of in the data — day-to-day life leans on Faringdon itself for shops, food, and healthcare rather than anything within the village boundary.
