Little Barningham

Little Barningham is the kind of place where the houses sit apart from each other behind hedges and gravel, and where a "For Sale" board is more likely to be outside a detached brick-and-flint place than anything terraced or new-build. With a population under two hundred and a median age over fifty, this is a village of settled households rather than young families chasing a starter home — the sort of spot people move to once, and then stay.

Housing here leans heavily detached and freehold — of the recent sales sampled, ten of the largest group were detached, and 23 of 24 were freehold, which tells you most transactions are whole houses changing hands outright rather than flats or leasehold flows. Prices sit a little above the surrounding district — about 5% over North Norfolk's median — and detached homes locally have fetched notably more than the national detached average, which points to a market of larger, characterful properties rather than volume housing. Schooling is thin on the ground within the immediate data: Corpusty Primary School, rated Good, is the one named option, suiting a family happy with a small, close-knit primary rather than a big-catchment setup. There's no rail station in the picture here, and the connectivity and transport grades (C and C) confirm this is a drive-everywhere village, not a commuter one.

Green space is modest and singular — one recorded plot of under half a hectare — so weekends are less about parkland walks from the doorstep and more about getting in the car for the wider Norfolk countryside and coast. That fits the rhythm of a place with no listed restaurants or food venues of its own: eating out means driving to a neighbouring town, not popping round the corner. What stands out instead is safety — an A+ grade, holding flat over time, against a backdrop of only five recorded crimes in the past year. The breakdown skews toward violence and anti-social behaviour in relative share, but the absolute numbers are so small that a couple of incidents move the percentages considerably; this isn't a place with a crime problem, it's a place with barely any crime to speak of.
