The crime figures are the one place this piece needs a pause: nearly half of recorded incidents fall under violence and sexual offences, a heavier share than you'd want to see leading the list, even though the overall safety grade holds up reasonably well against the national average. It's worth sitting with rather than skating past — a town that otherwise reads as steady and unremarkable with one category doing a lot of the lifting in the crime stats.
