Summary of Bangor-on-Dee
Bangor-is-y-coed sits along the River Dee, a village of stone bridges and low sandstone cottages, the kind of place where the pub by the water and the church tower do more to define the skyline than any new development. It's a name that draws a certain amount of quiet curiosity from outside — but on the ground it feels unhurried, more field-and-hedgerow than high street.
There isn't enough hard data here to responsibly size up the schools, the commute, or the crime picture for this specific village — those numbers simply aren't in front of me. What I can say with some confidence is the housing frame, because the wider Wrexham figures give a useful anchor: across Wales, the median house price sits around £208,000, with detached homes typically closer to £325,000 and terraces nearer £160,000. Wrexham itself, the county this village belongs to, has a median closer to £190,000 — so a village address like Bangor-is-y-coed, with its period stone housing stock, tends to sell at a premium over the county figure rather than in line with it. That premium is really the headline: you're paying for the river, the setting, and the distance from anything resembling a town centre, not for proximity to amenities.
Beyond that, I'd rather say nothing than guess. If you're weighing this one up, it's worth digging into the specifics of schooling, transport links, and local crime figures directly for this village before deciding — they'll tell you far more than any county-wide average can about whether the day-to-day here would suit you.
